  1. Preheat oven to 425 . Soak cracklin's for 15 to 20 minutes. (You don't have to but I like them better soft.)
  2. Put oil in pan and place in oven.
  3. Beat egg and stir in cornmeal, milk, &sugar. Remove extra water from cracklin's and fold them in.
  4. Remove pan and pour oil in bowl mix a little then pour mix in pan and place in oven. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes. Remove butter top of cornbread then put in oven for 5 or 10 minutes. I turn my oven off and leave it in for a while.
  5. If you need more cornmeal do so but don't forget to a a little more milk as well. Enjoy!
