I prepared this curry with the last bit I had of what umma send me last year. The combination of the slightly sweet seeds and the tangy raw mango gives a nice punch while having rice. I am not a fan of raw mango or its tanginess, so normally what I do is to squeeze the mango into the rice and discard. Jackfruit Seed Raw Mango Curry also known in Kerala as Chakkakuru Manga Curry.

  1. Peel off the white skin of the seeds and soak in water for 15 mins. Then scrape down the brown skin with knife. Wash thoroughly.
  2. Put the washed seeds in a cooker with turmeric, red chilli powder, green chilles and salt. cook for 2 to 3 whistles.
  3. Cut mangoes length wise and cook in the curry.
  4. Geind coconut with cumin seeds, garlic pods, green chilli,shallots to a fine paste. and pour in to the curry. At this time taste and adjust the salt and add 1/4 tsp sugar (it's optional of ur mango is little sweet in taste).
  5. Take coconut oil in a kadai amd add the mustard seeds and when crackle add the shallots,hing, whole chillies, curry leaves. pour on to the curry.
  6. Enjoy curry with rice.
